Our Teachers

Shayla Lowry

I discovered my love for yoga soon after graduating college in 2019. Anxiety would consistently hold me back in life and there came a point where I realized I had two choices; I could continue to spiral downward, or I could get off my butt and do something about it- that’s when I tried a yoga class.

I was dreading it at first, but my friend had been begging me to come with her since it helped her so much. During that class, I wasn’t thinking about the past nor the future, just where my body was at that moment. From then on it was a part of the day I craved- a time where I could get present and grounded.

Overtime I began to notice a shift in myself and my everyday life. It was creating a part of myself that I loved. Once I noticed the physical and mental benefits living a yoga lifestyle really had to offer, I decided to do a yoga teacher training to dive deeper. I completed my 200 RYT in 2020 with Cindy Purser. That powerful choice to leave my then toxic mindset/lifestyle and dedicate myself to yoga brought me so much more than just relief and clarity;

I found purpose, passion, happiness and freedom, and I’ve made it my mission in life to inspire others to do the same, no matter their starting point.

Tyler Lowry

My journey with yoga began through the help of my wife Shayla. I have always loved to explore new avenues in my health and wellness programs, and it was when I took my first Power Yoga class that I found the missing link. From there, my curiosity strengthened and I wanted to deepen my practice with the addition of mediation and eventually my new found love for Yin Yoga. I completed my 200 hour YTT through Travis Eliot and Lauren Eckstrom, and continue to learn and grow my practice each and every day.

In 2018, I decided to take a huge leap and go for my yoga certification. May 2019, I received my 200 RYT. Public speaking was a fear of mine, but this was obstacle I knew I could overcome. I am so happy that I am now able to practice AND spread my love for yoga! A true art form that has changed my life and gave me a new beginning!

Apart from yoga, I’m an outdoor girl! I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and camping. Painting is also a hobby of mine. Most importantly though, I cherish time with loved ones, eating good food and drinking copious amounts of coffee!!!

My yoga journey started two years ago and it immediately became part of my everyday life. I was first intrigued by the asanas. All the different shapes the human body could make were all so beautiful and fascinating to me. I wanted to be able to express myself artistically through these postures and quickly that began to bloom into something much more complex. I was getting to know myself on much deeper levels and uncovering layers that had been buried. I was working through mental blocks that I had created and was discovering my own true potential.

The connection between mind, body, and soul were beginning to come together. My practice began to shape my life for the better and that is something I will forever be grateful for! I feel very passionate about yoga and I knew it was my calling to share this life changing practice with the world.

I completed my 200 hour YTT and I'm so excited to share my love for yoga with everyone.

Christy Yow

I discovered yoga in 2016 after being diagnosed with stage 2 thyroid cancer, at the suggestion of my care team. I was encouraged to practice more for the mental health benefits than out of medical necessity. Only a year before I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine and hereditary arthritis in multiple joints. My body was breaking down and I needed to get it back working.

Enter yoga. I started out with deep stretch classes and soon began to tell a difference in my attitude and mental health, as well as my strength and flexibility. I was becoming gratefully addicted, devouring everything yoga as I continued to add to my practice. At the suggestion of teachers at Flow Yoga, I received my 200hr RYT in November of 2020.

My career background in healthcare has helped tremendously in regards to the anatomy of yoga and proper alignment of the body, especially the spine during poses. Due to my healthcare background, I plan to pursue further certifications in Yoga Medicine and Yoga Psychology.

Come join the Flow family and see what a difference yoga can make in your life!
